Kathy Ensey

Flutist and Educator
Kathy is a flutist and teacher in Wichita, Kansas, specializing in K-12 and professional flute instruction. She earned a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Wichita State University, and later returned there to complete her Master's Degree in Flute Performance with Dr. Carmen Lemoine. Kathy has filled the Wichita Symphony Orchestra's former Fourth Flute position since 2018. Ms. Ensey also performs as Principal Flutist with the Wichita Grand Opera Orchestra and Principal Flutist in the Delano Chamber Orchestra of Wichita. She also serves as Second Flute/Piccolo in the Chamber Orchestra of the Smoky Valley in Lindsborg, KS and is scheduled to perform again soon at Lindsborg's Sandzen Art Gallery.
She spent several years teaching band and choir in the Peabody and Valley Center school districts. She serves local young flutists as a board member of the Tack Flute Foundation committee, frequently judging local competitions and festivals and also has worked cooperatively with the National Flute Association as a competition judge.
She lives near Park City, Kansas where she actively cultivates her flower gardens, raises four children, practices the flute and cares for her chickens.
Teaching flutists how to juggle a busy schedule while finding time to do what they enjoy most is her specialty! Her private studio presently has openings, so reach out if you are interested in taking flute lessons!
